Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 11, 2026

JUGS LLC, doing business as Melon Picker (“we,” “us,” or “our”), operates the Melon Picker mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who processes it, and how you can delete it.

Your tap audio never leaves your phone. The App uses your microphone to listen for the sound of your knuckle tapping a watermelon. That audio is analyzed entirely on your device, in real time, using on-device machine-learning models. We do not record audio to a file, and we never store, upload, or transmit audio — the App contains no code path that sends audio anywhere.

1. Information We Collect

Account information (if you sign in)

You can sign in with Google, Apple (iOS), or an email address and password. When you do, we collect and store:

  • Your name (as provided by your sign-in provider, or a default display name)
  • Your email address
  • Your profile photo URL (if provided by your sign-in provider)
  • An account identifier (user ID) created by Firebase Authentication

Profile and settings (stored in your cloud account)

Your account profile in our database (Google Firebase Firestore) contains: your app settings (such as whether notifications are enabled and whether you have completed onboarding), a count of tests you have run, whether you have purchased the one-time unlock, your account creation date, and — if you enable notifications — a push notification token for your device.

Support messages

If you send us a message through the Support box in the Profile screen, we store the message text with your user ID and the date so we can respond.

Usage analytics

We use Google Firebase Analytics (on iOS and Android builds) to understand how the App is used so we can improve it. This records events such as: onboarding started/completed, testing session started/completed/failed, tap capture succeeded/failed, sign-in, paywall shown, purchase started/completed, notification opt-in/opt-out, and support message sent. If you are signed in, these events are associated with your user ID and a flag indicating whether you have purchased the unlock. Firebase Analytics also collects standard device information (such as an app-instance identifier, device model, operating system version, and coarse, country-level region). We do not use analytics for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies’s apps or websites.

Crash reports

We use Sentry to report crashes and errors so we can fix bugs. A crash report includes the error details and stack trace, your device model, operating system version, app version, and platform (iOS/Android). We configure Sentry not to send personally identifying information with crash reports, and a small sample of sessions (about 10%) includes anonymous performance timing data.

Purchase information

The one-time unlock is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is processed entirely by Apple or Google — we never receive or store your payment card details or billing address. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases: RevenueCat receives your app user ID and the store’s purchase receipt, and tells us whether your unlock is active. Your unlock status is stored in your account profile.

Data that stays on your device only

Your saved picks (the verdicts you save, home re-test results, and your post-cut ratings), your tester points, and cached settings are stored locally on your phone. They are not uploaded to our servers. If you use the App without signing in, all of your data stays on your device.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not record, store, or transmit audio from your microphone — analysis is on-device only
  • We do not collect your precise location
  • We do not collect your contacts, photos, or files
  • We do not show ads and do not use advertising SDKs
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the App’s features and keep your account settings in sync across devices
  • To verify your one-time unlock purchase
  • To send an optional push reminder to re-test a saved melon at home (only if you enable notifications)
  • To respond to support messages you send us
  • To find and fix crashes and to understand which features are used, so we can improve the App

4. Service Providers (Data Processors)

We share data only with the service providers that run the App’s infrastructure, and only so they can provide their service to us:

Provider What it does What it processes Privacy policy
Google Firebase Sign-in, database, cloud functions, push notifications, analytics Account info, profile/settings, support messages, analytics events, push token Firebase Privacy
Sentry Crash and error reporting Crash reports, device model, OS and app version Sentry Privacy
RevenueCat Purchase validation App user ID, store purchase receipt, unlock status RevenueCat Privacy
Apple / Google App distribution, payment processing, sign-in Payment details (never shared with us), sign-in identity See Apple’s and Google’s privacy policies

Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers located in the United States.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data: kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, it is deleted immediately from our production database (see Section 6).
  • Crash reports: automatically deleted by Sentry on a rolling schedule (typically 90 days).
  • Analytics events: automatically expire under Firebase Analytics’s retention settings (no longer than 14 months).
  • On-device data: stays on your phone until you delete your account in the App or uninstall the App.

6. Deleting Your Account and Data

You can delete your account and data yourself, at any time, from inside the App:

  1. Open Melon Picker and go to the Profile tab
  2. Scroll down and tap Delete account, then confirm

This immediately and permanently deletes your sign-in account, your profile and settings, your cloud-stored test data, your support messages, and your push notification token, and clears the App’s data on your device. It cannot be undone.

If you can no longer access the App, you can request deletion by email instead. Full instructions are at melonpicker.com/delete-account/.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR in the European Union and the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of selling.

To exercise any of these rights, delete your account in the App (Section 6) or email us at hello@melonpicker.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will never discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@melonpicker.com and we will delete it.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and encrypted at rest by our providers, and access to production data is restricted. No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard measures.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will always reflect the latest version, and we will notify you of significant changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
